What type of Education Center of
Career Education?
Career Education is a national system of privately operated colleges that
focus on high quality career education. The system includes ten Career
Education College of Technology campuses, which offer programs in the
areas of Information Technology, Graphic Design, Medical Technology, and
Industrial/Service Technology. New programs are being added every year.
Plus, the system includes three Career Education College of Aviation
Technology campuses that offer training for careers in aviation
maintenance. At every campus, our goal is to provide students with the
skills they need to succeed in jobs in the career field that they study.
What is Career Education Online?
Career Education offers online degree programs through its Denver North
campus. Through Career Education Online, you can earn your degree
completely online. For each of these programs the curriculum is the same
as the one taught on campus, but the courses are delivered via the
Internet, rather than in traditional classrooms. Students are taught by
Westwood Instructors who have been trained in online course delivery and,
in many cases, have taught these same courses in the face-to-face
environment. Visit the
Career Education
Online FAQ to learn more.
Is Career Education College accredited?
Yes, each Career Education College campus is accredited by either the
Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT),
by the Accrediting Council of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), or
by the Accrediting Commission of the Council of Occupational Education
(COE).
What does accreditation mean to Career Education
students?
Accreditation indicates that a Career Education College campus meets
specific standards of educational quality. The accreditation process
includes a comprehensive review of all academic programs and ancillary
services to ensure that Career Education has the resources and ability
needed to meet its educational objectives.
How qualified is the faculty at Career Education?
While many faculty members have earned advanced degrees in their fields,
Career Education also places a high value on the industry experience that
our faculty brings to the classroom. Career Education looks for a
combination of three factors when recruiting faculty: industry experience,
educational training in the subject field, and past teaching experience.
What is the average class size at Career Education?
Class sizes vary depending on the program, course, and the time of year,
however, most classes currently include between 20 and 30 students, and
are often even smaller. Because of the relatively small class size, Career
Education students are able to obtain the support they need, including
assistance with course assignments, special projects, and attention to
special academic concerns.
Are Career Education programs and technology up to date?
Career Education takes great pride in our ability to stay current with
industry standards. Through Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings,
leaders from various career fields meet with the Career Education staff
and faculty to review curriculum. The equipment used in our programs is
not intended to be state of the art. Rather, our focus is to ensure that
the equipment used in our programs is adequate to achieve the educational
goals of the program, and that it reflects what is typically found in the
businesses that employ our graduates.
Is Career Education growing?
Career Education is growing to meet the ever-changing needs of students,
business, and industry. We are adding new academic programs in the areas
in which we specialize, and we continue to explore opportunities for new
locations. By adding new programs, we can expand our ability to help
students take advantage of the ongoing need for workers with technical
skills.
What does a Career Education College campus look
like?
A Career Education College campus does not look like a traditional college
campus. Our campuses are located in retail, commercial or corporate
settings that are convenient to students who are seeking career-focused
education. Our facilities offer a functional, businesslike environment
that is conducive to teaching and learning in career-focused programs.
Each Career Education campus includes classrooms, labs with appropriate
equipment, and administrative spaces that foster strong, businesslike
relationships between our students, faculty, and staff.
Is housing assistance provided for out-of-town students?
Yes, Career Education utilizes the services of a professional housing
services company to assist with relocation and housing arrangements for
non-commuting students at most campuses. The typical unit is a two-bedroom
apartment designed for four students. Students are required to submit a
housing deposit prior to registration to secure a reservation. Rent varies
by location. Further information is available from the Student Services
office at each Career Education campus.
Is financial aid available at Career Education?
Yes, Career Education offers financial aid to those who qualify. Each
campus has a full-time Financial Aid staff that helps students and their
families determine how to finance their education. Students can expect a
range of financial aid options similar to those offered by other colleges.
Does Career Education offer job placement
assistance?
Yes, Career Education offers part-time job placement assistance to
students who are in school and ongoing career placement services to
graduates. While no college can guarantee employment, Career Education is
proud of the success achieved by its Career Services Offices.
What guarantees will Career Education make
to its students?
No reputable institution will make specific guarantees to students. At
Career Education, we strive to create a professional education environment
that gives students the information, tools and support they need to
succeed. |
